That's how unhinged things got – the car ricocheting noisily along the scrawled signature of dust roads and wild agave fields carved through the Jaliscan landscape. The distillery itself is guarded by a donkey and a few penned goats beside a river that pounds the rocks while the land around is yellow and dry. Beyond this dusted, humble entrance lies a cavernous operation: inside, a cart track runs through the vast industrial atrium holding a few stills and enormous glassless windows; white walls spotted with black mould hold the silence and calm alongside the river's percussion.
