Day 13 (Misc)

Day 13 (Misc)
We came back through this mountain pass near Zoquitan twice. But the first time we walked. At the end of a trip through crazy stories and crazier mezcals (and a wild mango distillate that remains one of the rawest encapsulations of that fruit I have ever tasted) we schlepped up the winding, craggy path to a view like no other. This was a living Velasco painting: all endless skies and sculpted white clouds, sharp yellow stones and momentous broad hills hiding histories and mythologies and magic. And then the distiller casually popped open a bottle he’d ferreted away, filled our glasses (because it was that kind of a distillery trip) and we shared the fiery, smoky, funky mezcal in my photograph – raw and deliciously beastly beneath the beating heat, amidst a forest of alien cacti. With a humble filename like “Misc Day 13” you would never know its importance. Yet whenever I drink a funky mezcal and feel the sun on my face, this is the first memory that rises like a leviathan on my tongue.
This large, very limited photograph is one of only three images from our adventure making Tristan Stephenson’s Agave Safari to be released as a print to buy, each in strict edition of only 8. This is a rare slice of a rarer adventure into the heart of the agave.
Each photograph is printed on luscious Hahnemülle Photo-Rag stock, giving them an earthed, almost painterly feel and incredible longevity. My favourite stock for images like these. The border is printed, making them easy to hang either floated or with a window mount in frame-ready sizes. They are signed and numbered. And the price includes free postage within the UK, Europe or the USA.
