Who would’ve thought that celebrating the first anniversary of a certain wee ex-pizzeria in Islington could get so messy? Still, when said establishment is also one of London’s finest cocktail-dispensaries, perhaps I should have known.
Tony Conigliaro’s bar with no name will no doubt go down in the bitters-soaked history books. With time it will surely collect all those little myths and anecdotes – the regulars, the drinks, the conversations, the lock-ins – that make an erstwhile great bar into the stuff of legend.
But for now: happy birthday 69 Colebrooke Row.
